ObjectiveTo continuously monitor changes of monocytes, lymphocytes and multiple organ function in septic patients, and to evaluate the relationship between them and prognosis, and to provide evidence for cure in septic shock.MethodsTo observe and record the changes of monocytes and lymphocytes at 1,3,5,7days after septic patients go into the ICU and the total score of sepsis-related organ failure assessment (SOFA) was counted. To evaluate the relationship between the changes of the cells and MODS and to investigate the influence of the changes on predicting prognosis in patients with septic shock.Result30 patients survived and other 30 died in the 60 patients with septic shock lasting more than 7 days. Monocytes and SOFA increased at 5,7day in the dead group(P<0.05). Lymphocytes descend at 5,7day in the dead group (P<0.05)Conclusion1. In the original stage of septic shock, monocytes apoptosis, which was a mechanism of protection, indicates a good prognosis.2. The apoptosis and downward tendency of lymphocytes were signal for the state of immunosuppression in patients with septic shock, which predicts a bad prognosis.3. The total score of sepsis-related organ failure assessment (SOFA) can be regarded as an ideal quantitative indicator to evaluate and monitor the gravity of illness for septic patients.Combined with lymphocytes, SOFA can be used to observe the process of septic shock continuously in clinical use, which are instructive for clinical treatment and prognosis in septic shock.
