Objective To discuss the diagnosis and treatments of pancreatic cystadenoma and cystadenocarcinoma. Methods Retrospectively ananlysis of the clinical data of 24 patients with pancreatic cystadenoma or cystadenocarcinoma from March 1999 to March 2010 in the 2nd Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine. Results Cysticadencid tumor of pancreas was likely to occur in young and middle-aged females and the clinical presentations were not distinctive. Pancreatic mass were all found in those cases through B-ultrasound and CT scan, but it was difficult to accurately distinguish between the types, and the diagnosis relied on pathological examination. The mass were in the pancreatic bodies or tails in 16 cases, and the others were in pancreatic head. Pancreatic fistula was the main complication after operation. Two patients with operation had died with an survival period of 28 months and 37months, the other two patients with liver metastasis didn't have operation and died with an survival period of 12 months. The mass was not found to become large in one case about pancreatic cystadenoma without operation. The patients with pancreatic cystadenoma were all alive without recurrence. Conclution B-ultrasound and CT scan are helpful in the diagnosis of pancreatic cystadenoma and cystadenocarcinoma and the clear diagnosis relies on pathological examination. Operation is the preferred treatment and the relapse rate is low. The pancreatic cystadenoma can be curing and it also can increase the survival period though operation in cystadenocarcinoma cases.
