Aim To investigate the relation between the clinical significance and the levels of serum total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C), low density lipoprotein (LDL-C) and very low density lipoprotein (VLDL-C). Methods A retrospective analysis of 120 cases of clinical data of patients with liver cirrhosis was investigated, and the clinical data of 30 normal healthy individuals in our outpatient clinic were involved as a control group. Results Compared with normal healthy persons, lipid levels in patients with hepatitis B cirrhosis were significantly lower (P <0.05). Levels of TC, TG, HDL-C and LDL-C were positive correlated compared with levels of albumin and cholinesterase (P< 0.01). Levels of TC, TG and LDL-C were negative correlation compared with the levels of prothrombin time and MELD (Model for end-stage liver disease) classification (P<0.01). Conclusion we may safely concluded that the levels of blood lipid in patients with hepatitis B-related cirrhosis were significantly lower compared with normal persons. And levels of some blood lipids were significantly correlative compared with liver damage in patients with hepatitis B liver cirrhosis.
