Objectives:To explore the clinical features of senile acute pancreatitis, improving the level of treatment measures.Methods:Retrospective analysis was made on the clinical data of 426 cases of senile acute pancreatitis from February 2003 to October 2009 in First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University,who were divided into two group with age. There were 159 cases in senile group (≥60 years old) and 267 cases in non-senile group (<60 years old), pa-tients in two groups ratio was 0.60:1.Results:1. Etiology showed that there were 113 cases with biliary pancreatitis in the senile group(70.1%), and 125 cases with alcoholic pan-creatitis in the non-senile group (46.8%).The significant of two groups wasdifferent (P<0.01); 2.The significant of two groups was not different in morbidity of SAP (P>0.05);3.Complications in senile group including gas-trointestinal bleeding, MODS, pancreatic encephalopathy, infection,hypergly-cemia and pseudocyst were higher than that in non-senile group(P<0.05);5. Mortality in senile group (15 cases,9.43%) was obviously higher than that in non-senile group(11 cases,4.12%)(P<0.05).Conclusions:1.Cholelithiasis is the main etiology of senile acute pancreatitis; 2. The clinical manifestations are untypical and there are many severe complications in senile acute pancreatitis; 3. Mortality of senile patients is higher.
