Objective To compare the long-term prognosis of different therapies for the treatment of stable coronary artery disease. Methods 317 stable coronary artery disease patients were divided into three groups:conservative(medical) therapy group, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) group and coronary artery bypass grafting(CABG) group. Each group was further divided into two sub-groups including single-vessel stenosis and multi-vessel stenosis according to the number of coronary artery stenosis. All the patients were followed up for 48.4±7.6 months. The clinical outcomes including all-cause death , myocardial infarction ,revascularization, readmission for acute coronary syndrome(ACS)and relief of angina pectoris were observed through follow-up. Results During the 48.4±7.6 months of follow-up,whether single-vessel stenosis sub-group or multi-vessel stenosis sub-group, there were no significant differences between medical therapy group and PCI group in the composite of all-cause death, myocardial infarction and readmission for ACS. In multi-vessel stenosis sub-group,CABG group hand a significant lower rate of all-cause death and revascularization than that in medical therapy group and PCI group(P<0.001orP<0.05);PCI group had a significant lower rate of revascularization than that in medical therapy group(P<0.05). Conclusion Compared with medical therapy ,early PCI may not improve long-term prognosis of patients with stable coronary artery disease;CABG may had a better prognosis than PCI in multi-vessel stenosis.
