BackgroundSudden deafness, also known as idiopathic sudden hearing loss, now the exact cause of sudden deafness is unknown, generally considered the main causes of infection, inner ear dysfunction, metabolic disorders, immunological factors, such as broken windows within the cochlea, associated with psychological factors also reported.1944 first described the disease in recent years, incidence increased gradually, As the understanding of the pathogenesis is not clear, the current treatment for sudden hearing loss there is no precise and effective treatment.ObjectiveA retrospective study of the subject method, through literature, select the number and the prognosis of sudden deafness may be related to statistical analysis of the factors, so as to explore them for the prognosis of sudden deafness and prognosis of the existence of the impact of the sudden onset hearing loss treatment and improve some basis to judge.MethodsAccording to inclusion and exclusion criteria, select from January 2006 to December 2009 at the Guangdong Provincal Hospital of Chinese Medicine, the first cases of sudden deafness diagnosed 320 cases (341 ears) for the study, through literature Select the number and the prognosis of sudden deafness may be related to factors such as gender, age, affected ear other side, the incidence to the visiting time, associated with symptoms, underlying diseases, degree of hearing loss, hearing loss curve type, disease season hospitalization and treatment modalities were analyzed, the data used chi-square test single factor, treatment of each group were compared between efficient; then Logistic regression analysis of the overall evaluation of multiple factors on prognosis.ResultThe study included 320 patients (341 ears), there are 163 male,159 female, mean age was 46.68±16.94, mean in-hospital time was 12.03±5.16 days, of which 53 patients with hypertension, those associated with cervical spondylosis 19 patients with diabetes in 16 cases,14 cases with heart disease. Associated with vertigo in 58 cases, associated with tinnitus were 299 cases,84 cases of disease in spring, summer,67 cases of disease, incidence of 89 cases in autumn, winter,80 cases of disease. The results of single factor analysis, the total effective for treatment was 65.63%. ill ear, disease season, length of stay, with and without tinnitus, with or without history of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, history and prognosis of cervical spine was not related prognosis (P> 0.05). Age, beginning to treatment time and degree of hearing loss, hearing loss curve type, accompanied with dizziness and the different medicine would be connected with the prognosis (P<0.05). Multi-factor logistic regression analysis, only age, beginning to treatment time, degree of hearing loss, hearing loss curve type, the different medicine are connected with the prognosis (P<0.05).Conclusion1. Early after onset of treatment, the recovery of the sudden deafness of great help, the sooner the better treatment, course, more than one month, treatment decreased significantly; 2. The smaller the degree of hearing loss, the more the possibility of recovery large; 3. low frequency hearing loss decrease (up type) the prognosis is better than the other curve types; 4. young patients with good prognosis in the elderly.5. By Logistic regression analysis, patients with vertigo associated with this factor is removed. Sex, other side of affected ear, disease season, length of stay, with and without vertigo, tinnitus, with or without history of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, history and prognosis of cervical spine was no significant correlation (P> 0.05); patient age, to the visiting time, degree of hearing loss, hearing loss curve type and the different medicine prognosis (P<0.05).
