The objective of this study is to develop a Chinese version questionnaire of psychosocial adaptation for breast cancer patients with good reliability and validity, in order to provide an objective evidence for assessing the psychosocial adaptation of breast cancer patients.Using this questionnaire to investigate the status of psychosocial adaptation of postoperative breast cancer patients,to study on the correlation between psychosocial adaptation and quality of life (QOL) in postoperative breast cancer patients.MethodsThe frame and the items of the questionnaire were shaped on the basis of literature review and defining the concept of psychosocial adaptation in breast cancer patients, and the preliminary questionnaire was formed by semi-constructure interview for breast cancer patients and consultation for experts. The method of sampling went to convient sampling, and 228 postoperative breast cancer patients in breast surgical department of the First Hospital affiliated China Medical University were selected,in order to analyse items and test reliability and validity.Investigation of patients with demographic data and disease related information; Psychosocial adaptation questionnaire and QLICP-BR scale on breast cancer patients were utilized to survey the status of psychosocial adaptation and QOL of aim group before the first, third and sixth chemotherapy. Via Pearson correlation analysis and Multiple stepwise regression analysis,to study on the correlation between psychosocial adaptation and QOL in patients. 1,Psychosocial adaptation questionnaire reliability and validity(1) ValidityThe content validity index (CVI) for the overall questionnaire was greater than 0.75. The correlation analysis indicated that the structure of the questionnaire was excellent. The result of factor analysis was also good, with the method of principle components analysis, and five factors were extracted, the cumulative contribution rate was 54.578%,loading for most factors were over 0.4.The result indieated that the structure of the questionnaire was similar to the theory construction. The questionnaire also had a good criterion-related validity.(2) ReliabilityCronbach's a coefficient of the overall questionnaire was 0.945, while the 5 dimensions were 0.743-0.818.Retest correlation coefficient of the overall questionnaire was 0.961, while the 5 dimensions were 0.862-0.955(P<0.01).2,The correlation between psychosocial adaptation and quality of lifePsychosocial adaptation status of breast cancer patients, was the worst before the first time chemotherapy, was relatively the best before the sixth time chemotherapy, and compared to the first and third time before chemotherapy, the sixth time before chemotherapy was significantly increased(P<0.01);QOL level of breast cancer patients, the sixth time before chemotherapy was increased more significantly than the first and third time before chemotherapy(P<0.01),while comparing the first and third time before chemotherapy, there was no statistical significance(P>0.05).Breast cancer patients with psychosocial adaptation and quality of life was significantly positively correlated (P<0.01).Single-factor analysis showed that age, occupation, insurance, education, family income and psychosocial adaptation to the impact of the quality of life was statistically significant(P<0.05).Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that psychosocial adaptation was the main factor affecting the quality of life in patients with breast cancer.Conclusion1,The developed questionnaire showed good reliability and validity. It can objectively and effectively evaluate psychosocial adaptation of breast cancer patients. 2,The psychosocial adaptation and quality of life of breast cancer patients, the sixth time before chemotherapy was increased more significantly than the first and third time before chemotherapy.3,It was a significantly positive correlation between psychosocial adaptation and quality of life in postoperative breast cancer patients. The psychosocial adaptation of postoperative breast cancer patients was a major factor which influenced quality of life.Improving the patient's psychosocial adaptation can improve the patient's quality of life.
