Development Of Social Cognition Scale For Chinese And Its Reliability And Validity Testing

ObjectiveTo develop social cognition scale fitting for Chinese socio-cultural background, analyze its items and examine its reliability and validity so as to provide effective measures for the screen, diagnosis, intervention and clinical scientific research of schizophrenia.MethodThe elementary structure pattern of social cognition scale was framed based on the clinical trait of Chinese people with schizophrenia by consulting abundant foreign and domestic references about it. and then structural factors and item bank of social cognition scale were made primarily. The items of social cognition scale were predicted and screened rudely to develop a scale with appropriate factors and items. After classification, arrangement and sampling, the students in Shenyang medical college were tested with social cognition scale to examine reliability and validity of social cognition scale.ResultAccording to the tested data, the social cognition scale were developed with 11 factors by means of statistical method, including 123 items. It was revealed from test for reliability and validity that the reliability were fine and meet the need of statistics. Based on other tests for social cognition. the elementary trait of people with social cognition were measured. ConclusionThe items of social cognition scale are with properties of good differentiation, appropriate quantity and factors as well as high general quality. Concerning to general traits, social cognition scale are of high stability, accordance in contents and little measurement error, meeting the need of psychometrics whose structure-related validity is reasonable for the theoretic scheme. Social cognition scale has some screening, diagnostic and studying value as compared with other methods concerning social cognition.
