ObjectiveTo describe the clinical characteristics and investigate the clinical epidemiology of psoriasis vulgaris in Liaoning Province; to compare genetic heterogeneity on clinical characteristics of psoriasis vulgaris.MethodsFive hundred and thirty-one outpatients with psoriasis vulgaris were studied by questionnaire. EpiData3.1 and SPSS13.0 statistical software was used for data analysis.ResultsIn 531 patients with psoriasis vulgaris, the male female ratio is 1.3:1. The average age of the first onset was 25.72±13.13. The average age of the first onset in male and female patients was 25.15±12.67 and 26.47±13.70 respectively. Guttate lesion was predominant. The most involved site was the lower limbs. In 531 patients,140 cases(26.7%)were reported to have a family history of psoriasis. The age of onset was earlier in the patients with family history than those without family history (p<0.05). There was no significant difference in the season of onset, but there was significant difference in the season of disease severity, that was, in winter or spring the disease was more severied.ConclusionsThere was no gender difference in the development of psoriasis vulgaris. For the male and female patients, there was no significant difference in the age of first onset (p>0.05). The age of first onset was earlier in the patients with family history than those without family history. The results suggested that psoriasis vulgaris might be a multigenic inheritable disease, and the genetic factors played an important role in the clinical epidemiology.
