Background and objective:Primary breast lymphoma (PBL) is a rare form of breast neoplasms. The objective is to explore the clinical features, diagnosi, prognostic factors and treatment outcomes. Methods:A retrospective study of 4 patients presenting to our hosptial from 2000 to 2009 are performed. We also review the literature and performe a statistical analysis of 154 cases of PBL. The statistical analysis are completed by SPSS 16.0. Results:Of all the 154 patients,143 were female. Age range from 12 to 84 years, and the median age was 42 years, with 96.7% of patients presenting with unilateral disease. According to Ann Arbor Classification,55.8% were stageâ… ,35.1% were stageâ…¡, others were stageâ…¢andâ…£. Median overall survival(OS) was 52 months. The statistical analysis showed that the age and tumor stage at dignosis and treatment pattern were not significant prognostic factors in predicting the OS. Conclusions:The combination of anthracycline-containing chemotherapy (CHOP), involved-field RT, and limited surgery produced the best outcome. No significant prognostic factors has been detected in our analysis. A prospective trial on the basis of these results should be pursued to confirm these observations.
