Objective:To analyze the effect of the umbilical cord blood stem cell transplantation in treatment of patients with hepatic cirrhosis。Methods : 86 patients with hepatic cirrhosis, including 74 cases of hepatitis B induced cirrhosis,4 cases of hepatitis C induced cirrhosis,4 cases of alcoholic liver disease and 5 case of idiopathic hepatic cirrhosis were selected, then medical measures as liver protecting, diuretic, treating jaundice and albumin transfusion were taken upon the said patients to improve their liver function before the transplatation,71 cases of which were improved to Child B level or better. Then umbilical cord blood stem cells were transplanted after gainning the consents of the patients. The umbilical cord blood stem cells, which were separated from 70 to 100ml umbilical blood from healthy women, were transplanted into the liver through the hepatic artery. Then routine postoperative care and treatment was taken upon, and the special agents are HGF intravenous drip 180mg for 14 days, growth hormone 4u subcutaneous injection for 14 days. Finally,1 week,2 weeks, and 4 weeks after the transplantation the routine tests should be done,10 weeks, and 16 weeks later routine test and the largest cross-sectional area of liver should be tested.Results:1 week after the transplantation 80 patients was much improved in the mental and physical status and appetite levels, abdominal distention, belching and other symptoms decreased or disappeared,however,41 patients still needed albumin transfusion. To 4 weeks of the observation all symptoms disappeared, and the patient's appetite levels, physical and mental status returned to normal, no need of albumin, disappear of edema, except that 1 case occurred severe autoimmune response in the fhirt week.10 weeks later, the prealbumin, albumin, PTa levels were significantly improved (P<0.05), howerve ALT, AST and bilirubin were not significantly different(P>0.05), and 10 weeks,16 weeks after the transplantation the CT showed that the hepatic maximum cross-section area was significantly increased compared with the preoperative value ((P<0.05).Conclusions:The umbilical cord blood stem cell transplantation for treatment of hepatic cirrhosis can greatly improve the hepatic function, in particular the synthetic function and the imaging features, improve the quality of life, prolong the life span, so it is of high value in use.
