Objective By comparing the expression levels of IL-5,Cys-LTs,8-isoprostane in serum in patients with acute exacerbation of asthma, remission, and healthy controls, analyzing correlation between the three indicators in patients with acute exacerbation of asthma, and respectively with FEV1%predicted value, finding out the factors that impact FEV1%predicted value in patients with acute exacerbation of asthma, then to explore the clinical value that IL-5,Cys-LTs as inflammatory markers and 8-isoprostane as a marker of oxidative stress response were monitored in patients with bronchial asthma, and to explore the effect of airway inflammation, oxidative stress response in the pathogenesis of asthma.Method:1,Twenty patients diagnosed with acute exacerbation of asthma were enrolled into the experimental group from Department of Respiratory Medicine in the second affiliated hospital of Kunming Medical College from February to August in 2009,after treatment all the patient reached remission;and twenty examination of healthy workers were voluntarily enrolled into the healthy control group from Department of Respiratory Medicine in the second affiliated hospital of Kunming Medical College in August 2009.2,The expression levels of IL-5 in serum of all the objects of study were measured by ELISA test, the expression levels of Cys-LTs and 8-isoprostane in serum of all the objects of study were measured by EIA test. 3,All the patients with bronchial asthma whether in acute exacerbation stage or remission stage, and the healthy controls were tested FEV1%predicted value.4,Making use of the SPSS 11.5 Statistical Package to analyze the experimental results.Results:1,The expression levels of IL-5,Cys-LTs and 8-isoprostane in serum were higher in patients with acute exacerbation of asthma than that were expressed in remission, and healthy control group, the difference had statistical significance(P values were<0.05). The expression levels of IL-5 in serum had no significant statistical difference between in patients with asthma in remission stage and healthy control group(P value was>0.05),while the expression levels of Cys-LTs and 8-isoprostane in serum of patients with asthma in remission stage, compared with that in healthy control group, there had statistical difference(P values were<0.05).2,In patients with acute exacerbation stage,by linear correlation analysis, there was negative correlation between each of the expression levels of IL-5,Cys-LTs,8-isoprostane in serum and FEV1%predicted value(r values respectively were -0.613,-0.569,-0.501,P values were all<0.05),and there was all positive correlation between each two of three:IL-5,Cys-LTs,8-isoprostane(r values respectively were 0.909,0.854,0.851,P values were all<0.05).3,By multiple linear regression analysis,in the seven influence factors:the expression levels of IL-5,Cys-LTs,8-isoprostane and their height, weight, age, the main factors influencing the FEV1%predicted value in patients with acute exacerbation were the expression levels of IL-5 and their age.Conclusions:1,Not only were airway inflammation and oxidative stress response present in the disease of asthma, but also were in the entire process of asthma. The interaction between them contributed to the occurrence of asthma and development.2,IL-5,Cys-LTs as markers of inflammation involved in the pathogenesis of asthma, by monitoring their expression levels in serum in patients with asthma may reflect the state of airway inflammation in patients.3,8-isoprostane as a marker of oxidative stress response involved in the pathogenesis of asthma,by monitoring its expression levels in serum in patients with asthma may reflect the state of oxidative stress response in patients.4,In addition to lung function test, monitoring the expression levels of IL-5,Cys-LTs,8-iosprostane in serum in patients with asthma may be a new adjunct to judge the severity, treatment responsiveness and progression of asthma.5,The expression levels of IL-5 in serum in patients with acute exacerbation of asthma and the patients' age were the main factors that influenced the FEV1% predicted value of patients in acute exacerbation stage.
