Objective : Postoperative intravenous analgesia with fentanyl is widespread used in patients underwent gastrointestinal surgery. But fentanyl has many adverse reactions such as respiratory depression, over-sedative and nausea and vomitting. Flurbiprofen axetil injection is a new non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs(NSAIDs) which exert analgesic effects by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins and the incidence of gastrointestinal damage was significantly lower than other similar drugs. In this study , we wanted to assess analgesic efficacy and safety of postoperative analgesia with flurbiprofen axetil combined with low-dose fentanyl and record side effects. Methods : Ninty ASA (American Society of Anesthesiologists) I~II patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgery with general anesthesia were randomly divided into A , B , C three groups of 30 cases each. For postoperative PCIA,the patients in Group A received Fentanyl(1.0 mg) + 0.9% Nacl solution to 100 mL,those in Group B had flurbiprofen(100mg) + Fentanyl(1.0 mg) + 0.9% Nacl solution to 100 mL, those in Group C had flurbiprofen(100 mg) + Fentanyl(0.5 mg) + 0.9% Nacl solution to 100 mL. All the anesthetic agents were diluted to 100ml. Fentany 50μg was injected before the start of PCIA. The VAS score at rest and after cough at 2,4,8,12 and 24 h after operation, the number of button-pressing during PCIA and incidence rate of side effects were recorded. Results :1. Demographic profileThe patients of the three groups were comparable in age, weight, time of operation, there were no differences among them. (P>0.05).2.There are no statistical differences in the VAS score among three groups (P>0.05). The pain exacerbated after coughing, but the VAS score is similar to that of resting of the same time.3. During twenty-four hours, there are no statistical differences in the number of button-pressing among three groups(P>0.05).4. The incidences of nausea and vomiting, lethargy in group C were significantly lower than those of in group A and B (P<0.05). Besides, two patients of group A had respiratory depression. And there are no other adverse reactions such as abnormal bleeding among three groups .Conclusion :All the patients could reached a satisfactory analgesia, and intravenous postoperative analgesia with flurbiprofen axetil combined with low-dose fentanyl has a similar analgesic effect to fentanyl alone in patients underwent gastrointestinal surgery. And flurbiprofen axetil combined with low-dose fentanyl can reduce side effects.
