The Study On The Quality Of Life And Related Factors Of Patients With Bone Malignancy And Their Family Caregivers In Changsha

Objective: To investigate the status of life quality in patients with malignant bone tumor and their family caregivers during hospitalization in Changsha city. To explore factors related to life quality in these patients and their family caregivers and provide the scientific evidence for intervening.Methods: From November 2006 to October 2007, 100 patients with malignant bone tumor and their family caregivers were sampled out in 3 hospitals in Changsha city. Personal general informations, EORTC QOL-C30 schedules(The Europe an Organization for Reasearch and Treatment of Cancer, Quality of Life Questionnare-Core30 ) and schedules of pain intension assessment were used for patients; Otherwise, schedules of Caregiver Quality of Life were measured for their respective family caregivers. Statistical analysis were carried out with SSPS13.0 statistical package. The statistical methods included descriptive statistics,t-test,ANOVA,Pearson analysis,Kruskal-Wallis H test and polynary stepwise regression analysis.Results:1. The life quality scores of the patients with malignant bone tumor during hospitalization were all low. Among all of them, status function,algesic symptom and economy difficulty were most significant.2. The different area in life quality of the patients with malignant bone tumor were affected by their different sex,age,years of schooling,financial condition,occupation,expenses way,knowing the facts or not,movable condition by ANOVA statistical analysis.3. The total life quality of the patients with malignant bone tumor were mainly related to the following factors: annual household income,the patients' occupation,sex,age,expenses way. family members' occupation,status,mental condition,sex,age by polynary stepwise regression analysis.4. The life quality of family caregivers were influenced with the patients' movable condition,knowing the facts or not,years of schooling,expenses way,annual household income and years of schooling of family members themselves.5. There were positive correlations between life quality scores of the patients with malignant bone tumor and their family caregivers in other areas. Except that the patients' economy difficulty was respectively negative correlated with mental condition and spirit condition of their family caregivers.Conclusions:1. The levels of life quality of the patients with malignant bone tumor were low. The related factors were including annual household income,expenses way,family members' condition,occupation status.2. Factors such as movable condition,knowing the facts or not, years of schooling,expenses way and annual household income were related to the life quality of family caregivers of malignant bone tumor patients.3. There were correlations bewteen the life quality of the patients with malignant bone tumor and their family caregivers.
