Objective:The nonunion of intertrochanteric fractures in the aged person is rarely.But it can make much trouble when it happens.This study's purpose is to make sure the feasibility of THA in the aged person with nonunion of intertrochanteric fracture.Methods:We reviewed 15 patients with nonunion of intertrochanteric fractures during Jan 2005 and Nov 2008.The mean age of the patients is 65.93±3.37(range 60~72).The mean time from the fist time of operation to the THA was 7.8±1.78 months(range 6~13 months).We called the patients or their relations and ask about their symptom now and than we figured out the Harrid Hip Score of them.Results:The Harris Hip Score of these patients significantly improved from 64±4 to 89.8±1.26 after the operation(P<0.05).Conclusion:The total hip arthroplasty is a stable and effective method for the nonunion of intertrochanteric fractures in the aged person.
