| Objective:To investigate and evaluate the clinical effectiveness of total hip arthroplasty for failed internal fixation of intertrochanteric fractures.Methods: 13 cases who had hip arthroplasty after failure internal fixation of intertrochanteric fractures were reviewed.preoperative and postoperative Harris Hip score were recorded.according to the X ray result and Harris Hip score evaluate the clinical effectiveness of total hip arthroplasty.Results:There were no more complications such as infection of incisional wound 、hypostatic pneumonia 、decubitus ulcer、deep venous thrombosis of leg、 priprosthetic femoral fracture、postoperative hip dislocation、prosthetic loosening.The Harris Hip Score significantly improved from 32.5 points before the conversion to 82.5 points after an average follow-up of 11.5months(range 5~18 month).Conclusion:the effect of the total hip replacement for the patient who suffer from failed internal fixation of intertrochanteric fractures.This surgical procedure can reduce the complications.It promotes the earlier functional recovery. |
