Objective:To summarize and report surgical experience and short-term clinical results of the follow-up of the minimally invasive TEA and conventional TEA, come what can help reduce the trauma and more benefit to functional recovering of elbow joint. Methods:Sixteen cases were divided into conventional group and minimally invasive group, for the conventional group, which in March 2007 prior to the eight cases of conventional operation, for the minimally invasive group, including the eight cases after the minimally invasive surgery in April 2007. The age, body mass index, operation time, length of the incision, blood loss, postoperative hospitalization, the pain score of the postoperative 1st, 2nd , 3rd day, preoperative Mayo elbow perfomence index, Mayo elbow perfomence index of at the postoperative 1st,3rd month follow-up, and postoperative complications in the two groups were compared. Results:These patients were followed up from 6 to 36 months, an average of 17.4 months, no infection, weared prosthesis loosening and sinking, the prosthesis / cement fracture, dislocation, and other complications in both groups, there was a case of myositis ossificans in conventional group and a case of ulnar nerve paralysis in minimally invasive group.Regarding body mass index, length of the incision, preoperative Mayo elbow perfomence index and Mayo elbow perfomence index of postoperative the 3rd month, postoperative complications in the two groups, there were no significant difference; about operation time, blood loss, postoperative hospital stay, the pain score of the postoperative 1st, 2nd , 3rd day, Mayo elbow perfomence index of postoperative the 1rd month factor and the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion:At the premise of selecting the appropriate prosthesis and surgical indications,TEA can shorten operation time, reduce blood loss and reduce postoperative pain, shorten length of stay and faster recovery after operation, by reduce the bone and soft tissue damage.
