Objective:To Investigate and Compare patient type of illness, onset age,Seasonal incidence, mortality and the occurrence of nosocomial infections, antibiotics and infection control applications etc in neurology intensive care unit (NICU) of our Hospitals from 2006 to 2008. To Evaluate the trend of nosocomial infection in my Branch. To recognize and clear the relevant factors of nosocomial infection and infection control deficiencies and To seek treatment and care response, in order to control of nosocomial infection effectively. Methods:Based on Cases of patients discharged from hospital provided by hospital room. A retrospective analysis study was carried out to Compare patient type of illness ,nosocomial infection rates and related factors from 1 January, 2006 to 31 December, 2008.Results:Firstly,cerebrovascular disease accounting for 79.01% was the main disease in NICU ,and different Cerebrovascular disease have different incidence of nosocomial infections and Vesting. the average annual mortality, hospital infection, hospital in average of Patients over the past three years were declining year by year. In this three-year ,the average mortality rate of 21.78%, the average hospital infection rate was 13.41%, the mortality rate of nosocomial infection was 20.69%.Secondly, The main risk factors of nosocomial infection were associated with age, sex, type of diseases, season,Invasive operation, application of acid inhibited agent, level of Serum albumin , liquid intake and output volume and so on.Thirdly, The infection sites were mainly found in the respiratory tract , gram-negative bacilli which account for 59.15%-62.94% was the main bacterial. In 2008, Gram-positive cocci infection had a slight increase over the previous two years. The rate of fungal infections over the past three years showed a downward trend year-on-year.Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infection have decreased significantly, but, types of Corynebacterium diph- theriae and Staphylococcus epidermidis infection was increased .fourly, The last three years, the proportion of using one drug of Antibiotics was increasing year by year, the proportion of using two drugs or more was declining, which made the use of antibiotic more reasonable. Enzymes ofβ- lactam antibiotics (Especially cephalosporins) was The main drug in use of Antibiotic. There were 286 cases of patients received antibiotic treatment, but only 148 cases have done drug sensitivity test .as a result, only 51.75% cases could choose the right antibiotics. Conclusions:the Neurological intensive care unit ,which patients was mainly cerebrovascular disease and had a higher incidence of nosocomial infection, should be a key part in our hospital for nosocomial infection monitoring. Health care workers should try their best to fouse on the risk facrors and avoid the emergence of risk factors and injuries,in order to prevent the occurrence of nosocomial infection. In order to to reduce the incidence of nosocomial infection Effectivly ,we should regulate Hospital infection prevention measures , strengthen the foundation care for the elderly and critically ill patients and ward management, and comply with The principle of aseptic strictly. in order to guide a rational use of antibio- tics and reduce the emergence of drug-resistant strains,The hospital should increase the proportion of drug sensitivity test .
