Objective: To analyze the prevalence of nosocomial infection(NI),the type and distribution of pathogens, and provide evidence for infection prevention and treatment. Methods: There were 7738 cases in intensive care unit (ICU) from Jan. 2007 to Dec. 2009. Among these cases 427 paients were NI according to the diagnostic criteria and others were eliminated. Then fill in the unity questionnaire and registrated schedule of NI. The date mainly include gender, age, stay in hospital, date of infection, sites of infection, predisposing factor, invasive operation, information of using antibiotics, pathogenic bacterium and drug sensitivity. Then analyse these date. Results: The average the prevalence of NI was 5.52 %. The number nosocomial infection patients were 427, and the rate is 5.52%, the incidence of infection was 15.3%. There are significant difference in the three years. The major infected sites of NI is respiratory tract (72.1%), bloodstream infections (9.4%), operated drainage(4.7%), operated cut (2.7%), central venous catheter(2.1%),urinary tract (1.4%), cerebrospinal fluid(1.2%), pleural cavity(1.2%). The most common pathogens of NI were Baumanii, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiella pneumoniae. Conclusions: The prevalence of nosocomial infection in the intensive care unit is highly increasing. The prevention and cure of NI should be strengthen in order to decrease the rate of NI in ICU.
