Clinical Observation Of Dragon's Blood In Treating Ankylosing Spondylitis

ObjectiveTo study the therapectic value of Dragon's Blood in treating ankylosing spondylitis(AS).Methods100 AS out-patients in our hospital,were enrolled in this research.All patients were divided randomly into the Dragon's Blood group(n=50) and the control group(n=50),Clinical syndrome and sign and blood data were recorded at first time and 3-month later,including Bath ankylosing spondylitis activity index(BASDAI),scoring of physician and patient,back pain,time of morning siffness,pillow-wall distance,modified Schober test,chest expansion and erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),C-reactive protein(CRP),platelet(PLT), fibrinogen(FIB).According to the criterion of Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Differentiation,the patients in the Dragon's Blood group were sorted as five patterns,the retention of damp-heat syndrome,the retention of damp-cold syndrome,the retention of stagnated blood syndrome,the deficiency of kidney-yang syndrome,and the deficiency of gan-kidney syndrome.At last,all above-mentioned index and laboratory data were analyzed by SPSS 13.0 for windows.Results1.Before treatment,there were no significant differences between the Dragon's Blood group and the control group with regard to sex,age,course of disease(P＞0.05).2.After treatment,the Dragon's Blood group had higher curative rate than that in the control group(94.0%vs78.0%,P＜0.05).3.After treatment,both group had a improved scoring for disease activity and increased spinal activity,including BASDAI(P＜0.01),scoring of physician and patient(P＜0.01),back pain(P＜0.01),time of morning siffness(P＜0.01),modified Schober test(P＜0.05) and chest expansion(P＜0.05),except the pillow-wall.However,more improvement was found in the Dragon's Blood group(P＜0.05).There was no significant difference between the Dragon's Blood group and the control group with regard to the pillow-wall distance(P＞0.05).4.After treatment,both group had sharp descrease with regard to ESR(P＜0.01), CRP(P＜0.01),PLT(P＜0.01),FIB(P＜0.01),with lower in the Dragon's Blood group than that in the control group(P＜0.05).5.After treat with Dragon's Blood,there were no significant differences among the five Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Differentiations in the curative rate(P＞0.05).Conclusions1.The western medicine combine with Dragon's Blood for AS is superior to the simple western medicine.2.The combined therapy of Dragon's Blood can improve the therapeutic effect on AS in five Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Differentiations(P＞0.05).And the conclution is worth to further research according to increasing patients.
