Objective: To discuss the significance of Macrophage migration inhibitory factor(MIF)and p53 in carcinogenesis, progression, angiogenesis and their correlations of prostate carcinoma, providing a new approach for the diagnosis and treatment of the tumor. Methods:: The expression of MIF and p53 in 28 normal prostate(NP), 83 benign prostate hyperplasia(BPH) and 74 prostate carcinoma(Pca)was examined with immunohistochemistry. Results: (1) In NP,BPH and Pca,the positive rates of MIF was on the rise which were 10.7%,19.3%,and67.8% respectively. The expression of p53 was on the rise from NP to BPH and Pca, which is7.1%,12.1%and74.3%respectively(p <0.01).(2) In Pca group, the expression of MIF,p53 is 67.8%and74.3% respectively , which is relevant to the grading and the clinical staging of prostate carcinoma(p <0.01);(3) The expression of MIF and p53 is positively correlated in prostate carcinoma(rs=0.641,p<0.001).Conclusion: (1)The expression of MIF,p53 is obviously on the rise in prostate carcinoma, which is on the rise with the grading and the clinical staging of prostate carcinoma.(2)MIF and p53 is positive correlated in prostate carcinoma.Combined detection MIF and p53 have some ??rred value to the initiation, proliferation and prognosis of prostate carcinoma.
