Objective: To research the expression of interleukin-8 (IL-8), interleukin-12 (IL-12) and interferons gamma (IFN-γ) in ovarian carcinomas,as well as the correlations with several clinicopathologic, formation of the ascites and demonstrative prognostic parameters,and to investigate the significance.Methods: IL-8, IL-12 and IFN-γprotein expressions were examined by immuno- histochemical staining (SABC) and hemiquantity calculation in 57 cases of ovarian carcinomas and 30 cases of normal ovary tissues. All cases had clinicopathologic define diagnosis during the period of 2004 to 2007 in the First Affiliated Hostipal of Anhui Medical University. The correlation between IL-8, IL-12 and IFN-γprotein expressions and histological types and clinical stages in ovarian carcinoma were analysed.Results: 1)The positive rate of IL-8, IL-12 and IFN-γprotein expression in ovarian tissueThe positive rate of IL-8 protein expression was 63.16% in ovarian carcinoma, there was significant between in ovarian carcinomas and control (p<0.05). The posi- tive cases of IL-8 protein expression was 62.86% in ovarian serous cystadenocarcino- ma,62.50% in ovarian mucinous cystadenocarcinoma and 66.67% in ovarian endom- etrial carcinoma, there was no significant between in ovarian carcinomas (p>0.05). The positive rate of IL-12 protein expression was 40.35% in ovarian carcinoma, there was no significant between in ovarian carcinoma and control (p>0.05). The positive cases of IL-12 protein expression was 42.86% in ovarian serous cystaden- ocarcinoma,37.50% in ovarian mucinous cystadenocarcinoma and 33.33% in ovarian endometrial carcinoma, there was no significant between in ovarian carcino- mas (p>0.05).The positive rate of IFN-γprotein expression was 36.84% in ovarian carcinoma, there was no significant between in ovarian carcinoma and control (p>0.05). The positive cases of IL-12 protein expression was 37.14% in ovarian serous cystadeno- carcinoma, 37.50% in ovarian mucinous cystadenocarcinoma and33.33% in ovarian endometrial carcinoma, there was no significant between in ovarian carcin- omas (p>0.05).2)The PI of IL-8, IL-12 and IFN-γprotein expression at various clinical stages in ovarian carcinomaThe PI of IL-8 protein expression is higher at various clinical stages in ovarian carcinoma than that in control(p<0.01);The PI of IL-12 and IFN-γprotein expression decresed, there was a significant difference about the PI of IL-12 and IFNγprotein expression between various stages and control(p<0.01);There was no significant difference about the PI of IL-8, IL-12 and IFN-γprotein expression in various clinical stages.3) The PI of IL-8, IL-12 and IFN-γprotein expression at various pathologic grade in ovarian carcinomaThe PI of IL-8 protein expression is higher at various pathologic grade in ovarian carcinoma than that in control(p<0.01),the PI of IL-12 and IFN-γprotein expression is lower at various pathologic grade in ovarian carcinoma than that in control(p<0.01).On the other hand ,the PI of IL-8 protein expression was enhanced ,and the PI of IL-12 and IFN-γprotein expression was decreased accompanied with more grade in ovarian carcinomas,there was a significant difference about the PI of IL-8 protein expression in various pathologic grade(p<0.05 or p<0.01), the PI of IL-12 protein expression is lower atⅠgrade thanⅡ,Ⅲgrade in ovarian carcinoma (p<0.05),there was no significant difference about the PI of IFN-γprotein expression in various pathologic grade(p﹥0.05).4) The PI of IL-8, IL-12 and IFN-γprotein expression at various pathologic type in ovarian carcinomaThere was no significant difference about the PI of IL-8,IL-12 and IFN-γprotein expression in various pathologic type(p>0.05).5) Relationship between the positive rate of IL-8, IL-12 and IFN-γprotein expression and lymph node metastasis and ascitic volum in ovarian carcinoma The positive rate of IL-8 protein expression was 44.44%, that of IL-12 was 55.56% and that of IFN-γwas 50.00% in no lymph node metastasis;The positive rate of IL-8 protein expression was 71.79%, there was a significant difference between lymph node metastasis and no lymph node metastasis(p<0.05);and the positive rate of IL-12 was 33.33% and IFN-γwas 30.77% in lymph node metastasis ,there was no significant difference between lymph node metastasis and no lymph node metastasis(p>0.05).The positive rate of IL-8 protein expression was 41.37%, that of IL-12 was 55.17% and that of IFNγwas 41.38% in less 500ml ascitic volum;The positive rate of IL-8 protein expression was 85.71%, that of IL-12 was 25.00% and that of IFNγwas 32.14% in more 500ml ascitic volum.There was significant about the positive rate of IL-8 and IL-12 protein expression between more 500ml ascitic volum and less 500ml ascitic volum(p<0.05 or p<0.01).There was no significant about the positive rate of IFN-γprotein expression between more 500ml ascitic volum and less 500ml ascitic volum (p>0.05).Conclusion: 1) There was significant relationship between IL-8, IL-12 and IFN-γpro- tein expression and angiogenesis, clinical stages, various pathologic grade, lymph no- de metastasis and ascitic volum.2) IL-8, IL-12 and IFN-γprotein were significant clinical parameter in ovarian carcinoma, may be involved in progression of ovarian carcinoma, examination ofIL-8, IL-12 and IFN-γprotein expression was of great value in understanding the degree of malignancy, and evaluating prognosis of the disease.
