This article reviewed systematically the research results both here and abroad about the diagnosis, treatment, pathogeny , pathology and treatment of the lumbar intervertebral disc prolapse (LIDP),and had a systematical induction and analysis on it, specially with a deepgoing research on the treatment such as Tuina, traction and movement.the author chose 60 single side .L4/5 and L5S1 type LIDP patients. Then they were randomly separated into two groups. There were 30 patients treated by Tuina & Traction combined with movement in treatment group, and 30 patients treated by lumbar traction and non-movemen Tuina treatment in comparison group. The results were observed in clinic. The results of observation had shown that the treatment group was better than the comparison group with 96.7%&76.6% in general effective rate. Statistical analysis showed that they had obvious statistical discrepancy. The two groups all have significant effect. But the treatment group had obvious advantages to the comparison group on the treatment of lumbago, tenderness pain, radiating pain of lower extremity and intensive raising test of the straightened leg.So we should give full play to the traditional Chinese medicine characteristic of Tuina, and combine modern rehabilitation theory, not only can enhance the effective of the traction therapy, but also can offset the shortage of the traction therapy. It is a feasible comprehensive treatment method. But this research still has some insufficient, such as the lack of observing time & case, and research mode simpleness. The author will try to prefect the research project on the basis of this research.
