OBJECTIVE:To study the impact of type,degree of severity of migraine and sex on the quality of life in patients with migraine.METHODS:84 out-patient clinic migraineurs from November in 2008 to February in 2009 were included in this study.They were assigned to three groups according to the degree of the severity of migraine:the mild group,the moderate group and the severe group.According to the type of migraine,they were assigned to two subgroups: the group of migraine with aura and the group of migraine without aura.According to the sex,they were also assigned to the group of male and the group of female.The life quality of those migraineurs was assessed by Generic Quality of Life Inventory-74 (GQOLI-74).RESULTS:①The difference of the average scores of physical health,eating function, work and study,marriage and family and physical function condition among the three groups of the mild group,the moderate group and the severe group had statistical significance(P<0.05),the other life quality indexes weren't significantly different (P>0.05);②Comparing with the moderate group,the average scores of GQOLI-74 in the mild group was significantly different in the aspects of physical health,work and study,marriage and family and social function condition(P<0.05);③The average scores of GQOLI-74 in the moderate group were significantly different in the aspects of sexual function and physical function condition comparing with the severe group(P<0.05);④The average scores of GQOLI-74 in the mild group were significantly different in the aspects of physical health,eating function,work and study and physical function condition comparing with the severe group(P<0.05);⑤Comparing the group of migraine with aura with the group of migraine without aura,there was significant difference only in the aspect of general evaluation in the quality of life(P<0.05).The average of the total score of GQOLI-74 in the group of migraine with aura was lower than that in the group without aura,but there was no significant difference(P>0.05);⑥The average scores of GQOLI-74 in the female group were significantly different in the aspects of physical health,recognition function,work and study comparing with that in the male group(P<0.05),the average of the total score of GQOLI-74 in the female group was lower than that in the male group,but there was no significant difference(P>0.05).CONCLUSIONS:The patients with migraine have a lower quality of life.The degree of the severity of migraine has influence on the quality of life in the aspects of physical and social function condition,especially in physical health,eating function, work and study,marriage and family.There is no significant difference in the quality of life between the patients of migraine with aura and those of migraine without aura. The females with migraine have a lower quality of life than the male ones,especially in the aspects of physical health,recognition function,work and study.
