Objective: To research and analyze the expression and significance of APC protein in primary gastric lymphoma (PGL) tissue ,and explore its relationship with clinic pathological features, as well as the role of APC protein in the development and progress of PGL.Methods: The clinical and pathological data of 30 patients with PGL admitted between June 2003 and December 2008 in Xiangya Hospital were collected. Expression of APC protein was detected in 30 cases(Twenty-one cases were male and nine cases female, twenty-two cases of were less than 60 years old, eight cases were or more than 60 years old, Twenty-one cases were Hp positive and nine cases Hp negative, sixteen cases were stage IEand forteen cases stage IIE , forteen cases with lymph nodes metastasis and sixteen cases without.) twenty samples of normal gastric mucosa tissue were studied with immunohistochemical staining(SP).Results: The positive expression rate of APC protein was 36.67%in PGL and 90% in normal gastric mucosa tissue. There was significant difference between PGL and normal gastric mucosa tissue( P < 0.05) ,The expression of APC protein had no significant difference with gender , age of patients and gross morphology , The positive expression rate of APC protein was correlated with clinical stage and lymph node metastasis , The positive expression rate of APC protein in PGL was 26.09. % in those with Hp infection and 71.43% without Hp infection, There was significant correlation between the expression of APC and Hp infection (P<0.05).Conclusion: The APC protein was lowly expressed in PGL, and it plays an important role in the tumorigenesis of PGL, which may be an important potential predictor of tumorigenesis in PGL. Because of the significant correlation between low expression of APC protein and Hp infection , Hp infection may be an important factor that have an impact on the expression of APC protein.
