Polygonum multiflorum is perennial herbaceous vine and its tuber and vine are used as traditional medicine. The root and the bulk of are expensive, and is the longevity of our traditional Chinese herbal medicine. Polygonum multiflorum is poplar in many aspects,such as health protection and chemical engineering.The main objective of this thesis is to study difference in genetic, physiology, growth, and chemical compounds antioxidant and microscopy study among Polygonum multiflorum provenances. The main results are as following:1. The study showed that there were significant differences in the growth characters, physiology characters, and quality characters among 10 Polygonum multiflorum provenances.1.1 flowering, seed maturity peoriodThere are some differences between in the Flowering and seed maturity period in different kinds of provenances, the flowering and seed maturity period of the northern source is significantly earlier than the southern of source, which is indicated that long-term environmental factors play an important role in genetic differentiation of the flowering and fruit produce of the Polygonum multiflorum that is located in different geographic regions .1.2 Variation of the seed traitsThe results show that there are extremely difference between the the seed traits of the different kinds of provenances, the northern of the seeds is small ,but the seed seed length,width and weight. In the northern of seed source is bigger than in the southern source . The shape index species is that the northern bigger than the southern; At the same time, through the correlation analysis showed that seed weight and seed length and seed width were significantly correlated.1.3 total length, the total variation of the diameter growth dynamicsIn this study, from a variety of sources between the total long rattan, with a total difference in diameter growth dynamics analysis, It were achieved on a significant level of growth in the total incremental differences, in the total incremental growth of the rattan ,the Deqing seed sources, Jinggangshan seed source and tiany source have a rapid growth, with the top three, while the total incremental of the total diameter is different.Jinggangshan seed sources, Enshi seed source and jiyuan are the top three seeds.1.4 Growth dynamics of leaf area per plant variationThe leaf area per plant and the average have a very significant difference between different provenances in the course of the month of growth,from the leaf area per plant on average, the southern is larger than the northern provenances, which is stem of the southern species rattan rapid growth and large leaf area of the single. On growth from the months show that the various provenances of leaf area per plant were maximum in September, followed by monthly decline. In case of the northern provenances have a big decline growth, and fewer new leaf growth, the leaf have litter.1.5 The variation of biomassThis study shows that the biomass indicators of the various provenances of Polygonum multiflorum is with no significant difference, while the differences of each other are very significant,which the total biomass of a variety of provenances reflects on the growth of the overall level, the study showed that Deqing, Jingxi,tianyang provenance of the South, total biomass is larger than the northern end of the provenances of species. Polygonum multiflorum's main product is its root, root is the most important indicators of economic traits, the study shows that Deqing, Emei and provenance Jingxi have the fastest performance in root growth ; total Fujishige is the more important indicators of economic character, in this regard,tianyang, Deqing and Jingxi species source have a high performance; (TWR) and (TRR), respectively, Polygonum multiflorum root growth reflects the total biomass in the growth and the growth of the underground sections of the percentage of Jinyun,Deqing and provenance of the pieces of a greater emphasis on ratio and root ratio, which shows that although emei provenance in total biomass and the ground growth have a poor performance, but it have rapid root growth, Considering the seed selection it is combined with other aspects of traits quality.1.6 chlorophyll, nitrate reductase mutationChlorophyll content in the month of inter-provenance have a significant differences, on the average of the 5 month have a higher total content of chlorophyll is Deqing, Jinggangshan and Dengfeng, the changes from the each months can be seen, the total chlorophyll content have the highest in the March, in the 3 to 7-month period have the low - high - low trend; while with the chlorophyll a / b content the North is higher than the South provenance . In this study, nitrate reductase analysis showed that an average of two seasons have a high level is Enshi, Deqing, than the content of the northern part, from the season changes it can be seen that the most vigorous growth in summer (July) is higher than in the spring with in slow-growing (March).1.7 anthraquinones content of the laws of the geographical variationThis study shows that the anthraquinones of the different provenances have a greater difference. The content of the free pre-hydrolysis of anthraquinone,the total anthraquinones after hydrolysis, the bound anthraquinone, emodin and physcion analysis showed that there are significant differences between the various sources, the Anthraquinones of Tianyang are the of the minimum, Dengfeng and DeQing have a high content of the free anthraquinones before hydrolysis . Dengfeng and DeQing have a higher content of the total anthraquinone after hydrolysis and the total combination of the anthraquinones than the other sources.1.8 The content of 2,3,5,4 - tetrahydroxy-stilbene-2-0-β-D-glucosideThe results indicate that the geographical environment have influence in the quality of the Polygonum multiflorum . Different growth environment and the is an important factor in accumulation of the 2,3,5,4- tetrahydroxy-stilbene-2-O-β-D- glucosidase.2. Through scanning electron microscopy analysis,nine kinds of Polygonum multiflorum pollen surface have the reticular patterns, which are of high consistency. Through the microscopic identification of different provenances of Polygonum multiflorum Thunb indicate that the source of the tianyang vascular have a very large differences between with the other provenances, whose order was 2-layer, and abundant lignified. The other provenances was not obvious.3. Antioxidation experimentThe results show that the five kinds of provenances of Polygonum multiflorum Thunb have antioxidant. The tianyang of the Polygonum multiflorum antioxidant source is different from the remaining provenances, The antioxidant of the Polygonum multiflorum is not related to the content of its 2,3,5,4 '- tetrahydroxy-stilbene-2-O-β-D glucoside each other.Conclusion: The results of this study show that the quality of the Polygonum multiflorum Thunb is related not only with their own genetic factors but also with the environmental factors. From the chemical composition, pollen morphology, vascular it is supported the point of view that Tianyang is as another variant of Polygonum multiflorum Thunb.
