Objective: Through comparison of the accuracy of fetal weight estimation with four different formulas, then choose an optimal formula for estimation of fetal weight in late trimester of pregnancy. Methods: From March to October in 2008, 221 fetuses came from the first affiliated hospital of Dalian Medical University, multiple pregnancies and pathological pregnancies, including maternal diabetes, maternal hypertension and severe infections, were excluded. Four ultrasound measurements - biparietal diameter(BPD ), head circumference(HC), abdominal circumference (AC) and femur length (FL) were performed and recorded by experienced ultrasound physicians. All the fetuses were examined less than 3 days before delivery and were estimated and compared with by the four different formulas. Formula 1 is EFW=1.07×BPD~3+0.3×AC~2×FL; Formula 2 is Log10EFW=1.326-0.00326×AC×FL+0.0107×HC +0.0438×AC+0.158×FL; Formula 3 is Log10EFW=1.3596+0.0064×HC+0.0424×AC+0.174×FL+0.00061×BPD×AC-0.00386×AC×FL; Formula 4 is EFW=0.23718×AC~2×FL+0.03312×HC3.Results: The error percentages of the late-gestation fetal weight estimated by four formulas are less than 10%.The estimated by formula 1 of the 221 fetal weights is not significative higher than the practice. The fetal weight estimated by other three formulas was lower than the practice. The distinction is significative between formulas 2 and formulas 1 in estimating the fetal weight of 178 normal and it of 41 macrosomias. So is the distinction between formulas 4 and formulas 1. But there is no different between the formulas 1 and formulas 3. The distinction is significative in estimating the fetal weight of 2 low birth weight infants, to advance clinical research. Conclusion: The error percentages of the late-gestation fetal weight estimated by four formulas are less than 10%, all can refer to clinic. Among the total the formula 1 is simple, few error, and the optimal equation for Estimation of Fetal Weight in late trimester of pregnancy.
