Survey ECM Carrier Rate And The Level Of Serum Antibody In Healthy Population In 2005/2006 And 2006/2007 In Hefei

Objective To find out the changes of rates of ECM carrier and antibody levels in the healthy people in Hefei city in different times of 2005/2006 and 2006/2007 , so as to provide the evidence for the prevention and treatment of ECM.Methods To monitor the ECM carrier and antibody levels in the healthy people in different times on the consecutive years by checking the ECM carrier and antibody levels of the blood from the kindergartens, primary schools, junior and senior high school students and adults by age stratified sampling in county on the basis of cluster sampling in a county.Results By monitoring 5 495 people, the total carrier rate was 5.0%, and the highest carrier rate was group C which was 2.5%; the total carrier rate ascended with the time in the two epidemic years. The carrier rate of age group 16-18 was the highest. The carrier rate in healthy people with the history of meningitis vaccine was significantly lower than that of non-immune population. Group A-positive rate was 83.7%, GMT was 1:201.4, and Group C-positive rate was 72.2%, GMT was 1:178.1; Group C antibody levels declined significantly in 2006/2007 than that in 2005/2006 by monitoring 4 090 serum. The levels of Group A and Group C antibody increased with the extending of prevalent time of EMC. The level of Group C antibody positive rate and GMT in the three counties were higher than those of the urban areas. The level of Group A antibody was higher than that of Group C in every age groups, and Group A antibody levels of kindergarten children and adults were lower than other age groups, the antibody levels of Group C decreased gradually with the increasing of age. The antibody positive rate of (A + C) meningitis vaccination in the third year was 55%, and GMT was 1:96.6.Conclusion Group C has been a new advantage prevalent flora in Hefei. And the Group C antibody level of healthy population was significantly lower than that of the group A, which did not achieve the protection level. With the extending of prevalent time, the ECM carrier rate and serum antibody level of healthy population rise in a season with the prevalent of ECM. The antibody levels of group C of healthy population significantly decreased with the decreasing of age. We should do more about the immunity programming to raise the vaccine inoculation rate of (A + C) meningitis of young people and adults. Booster immunization should be done after (A + C) meningitis, so as to ensure the sustainability of immunization.
