Objective: Based on evidence-based medicine system , evaluation of tonify deficiency and activation blood mainly evaluate the efficacy and safety of children with primary nephrotic syndrome (PNS). Methods: Based on a comprehensive collection of 1998-2008 domestic Chinese medicine treatment of children with primary nephrotic syndrome of the randomized controlled clinical study of literature, with Meta-analysis methods to get statistical data, the system evaluate the efficacy and safety of tonify deficiency and activation blood-based treatment of children with the primary nephrotic syndrome. Results: 1. The efficacy of the treatment using tonify deficiency and activation blood to treat children with PNS is better compared with the control group of prednisone, and is superior in raising the serum albumin, lowering serum cholesterol, reducing the 24-hour urine protein, accelerating the edema disappeared and getting rid of the urine protein. 2. The inverted funnel plot of tonify deficiency and activation blood-based treatment of children with complete remission rate is not a left-right asymmetry graphics, without distribution of inverted funnel, which suggests the possibility of ublication bias. 3. Supplementing qi and activating blood-based treatment of children with PNS affirms the early effect, but has no significant advantage in raising the children's albumin compared with the prednisone control group. 4. Pryetic tonification of spleen and kidney-based treatment of children with PNS has apparent early effect, and is superior to prednisolone in enhancing the serum albumin in children. Conclusion: The treatment of tonify deficiency and activation blood for children with PNS is effective, using the method of system evaluation has its practical significance, but the quality of using Jadad quality assessment table to evaluate Chinese medical literature is generally low , and the quality of clinical trial methodology needs to be improved.
