Objective:To investigate the psychological determinants in the patients with chronic primary angle-closure glaucoma,in order to better understand those patients and intervene in early stages.Method:Qualitative study was used.7 medically diagnosed patients were in-depth interviewed by semi-structural questionnaire. The data was categorized and analyzed.Conclusion:1.Traumatic events experienced in original families have large impact on individuals. The senses of being abandoned and helpless, which came from losing birth parents, became individuals' psychological scripts.2.Patients have obvious characteristics:self-appreciation,self-motivated,competitive, self-dependent,reluctant to seek help, stubborn, not easily yielding, and sensitive.Men have characteristics like working carefully, orderly and principled.Women have characteristics like self-pitying and strongly dependent.3.Patients' impressed premorbid events are all negative. The common feature of these events is that patients think they are treated unfairly and hurt.Their impressed postmorbid events share the similar feature.4.Patients' main moods about impressed negative events are:sadness, anger and grievance. After long time depression, these moods became resignation and hatred, which are all negative.5.Patients' negative moods have not been effectively released or dredged, but long oppressed and accumulated. When mentioning those events, they can still feel deeply negative moods.6.Effective means of prevention:people who share the same characteristics with patients with chronic primary angle-closure glaucoma should examine their eye anatomy as soon as possible. Those whose eye anatomy consistent with the disease should be concerned about their mental health.Especially for those who can not let go of the negative events, they should seek psychological help actively.
