Objective:The purpose of the present study was to investigate human interferon-α(IFN-α) direct effects on human renal carcinoma cell line 786-0.Methods:Human renal carcinoma cell line 786-0 was incubated with IFN-αand evaluated using MTT assay for cell growth inhibition.IFN-αinduces 786-0 apoptosis determined by annexinⅤbinding assays.Results:24 h treatment of 786-0 cells were treated with IFN-α(10U/ml,100U/ml,1000U/ml,2000U/ml)resulted in growth inhibition[(7.80±2.76)%,(11.28±2.95)%,(15.50±3.24)%,21.73±3.47)%];There is significant difference between 786-0 incubated in the presence of IFN-αand 786-0 incubated in the absence of IFN-αby FACS analysis. There is no significant alteration in different times.Conclusions:IFN-αwas significantly cytostatic to 786-0 cells, and effects on growth inhibition were concentration dependent.IFN-αhas promotion in apoptosis.
