Individual Correction Of Cleft Lip And Secondary Lip Or Nasal Deformities After Congenital Cleft Lip Repair

The incidence of congenital cleft lip is the highest one of birth-defect diseases in our country. Though surgery combining with other treatment could modify the malformation to some extent, the varied clinical manifestation and the theory limitation resulted in the imperfection of operation effect. Moreover, a lot of factors of onestage operation such as the operation approach, opportunity and heterauxesis of local tissue can lead to secondary lip and nasal deformities. Since those secondary deformities diversified from different people, the correction methods are complicated. Find the more effective and reliable methods to improve the corrective result for the secondary nasal deformities are important. Our retrospective study reviewed 67 clinical cases of correction of secondary lip and nasal deformities after congenital cleft lip repair. These data obtained from the first affiliated hospital of medical college of Zhejiang University during 2005 to 2008. The 67 patients applied different individual operation methods to correct the secondary deformities. We analyzed the etiopathogenisis of deformities through references, and collect patient information through further consultation. We also evaluated the satisfaction rate effect of the corrective operation by questionnaires. From the observation of the effect of correction operation as well as the data collected, we found the optimization method to repair the secondary nasal deformities. The individual operation methods to correct the secondary deformities can retrieve good aesthetics outcome and patients satisfied with the repair result. With the improvement of operation methods, the correction of secondary lip and nasal deformities after congenital cleft lip repair will definitely obtain perfect effect.
