Objective To investigate the relationship between ankle brachial index and vascular complication in type 2 diabetes. Methods ABI was examined in 116 patients with type 2 diabetes. The patients were divided into declined ABI group(ABI < 1.0) and normal ABI group(1.0≤ABI≤1.3),and to compare the vascular complications, metabolic varies and the 10-year risk of fatal CVD using SCORE between declined ABI group and normal ABI group. Results 22 patients(18.9%) with declined ABI showed longer duration of diabetes(9.91±6.34 vs 6.87±5.0 years),higher levels of serum TC(188±31 vs 169±30 mg/dl),LDL-C(114±26 vs 100±24 mg/dl),lower GFR(78.32±42.07vs 96.89±35.87 ),higher of DN(50.1%vs 22.3%),and higher score of 10-year risk of fatal CVD(7.27±6.69 vs 4.18±4.97%).Logistic regression analysis showed that gender, duration of type 2 diabetes,T C,Cr and hs-CRP were the independent risk factors for declined ABI.Conclusion It is easy and economical to check ABI in type 2 diabetes.Gender, duration of type 2 diabetes,T C,Cr and hs-CRP were the independent risk factors for declined ABI.
