Objective:To evaluate the therapeutic effectiveniss of incision at the basement of the ureterocele through cystoscope in children. Methods:Under the cytoscope transurethral incision at the basement of the ureterocele was performed in 18 children with 25 ureteroceles. The length of incision was about 0.3~0.5 centimeters, which was made on the cyst base. All the patients were followed up for 3 months to 5 years. All the cases were examined by Ultrasonography and urine routine,15 of which were examined by voiding cystourethrography. Results:Ureteroceles in 17 children disappeared after procedure. One require a second procedure because of recurrence.Urinary tract infections developed in only 2 of these 18 cases.Hydronephrosis completely or partly disappeared except one without change. Two cases were found to have vesicoureteraI reflux after operation. Conclusions:Transurethral incision at the basement through cystoscope is a simple, effective and minimal invasive procedure for children with ureterocele, especially suitable for the cases with intravesical ureteroceles.
