Objective:To study the clinical manifestation of abdominal type allergic purpura in adult patients , what included frequent attack season, age; clinical features, how to treatment and the prognosis of this disease , in order to provide reference to clinical work.Methods: The adult patients were admitted into our hospital as abdominal type of Henoch-Schonlein purpura from January of 2001 to January of 2009. We record all the 21 patients' clinical and endoscopic manifestations, laboratory blood test, treatment and the prognosis etc.Results: Most of the patients complained with abdominal pain. 66.7 % patients complained of nausea vomiting, 76.2% of the occult blood test was positive, 52.4% patients had hematoch ezia and haematemesis. 23.8% of the patients had elevated level of amylase in the blood and urine. 8 patients found Purpura days after the presentation of abdominal pain. The misdiagnosis rate was 33.4%. Endoscopy found edema , hyperaemia , ulcer , and bleeding spots in gastroenterologic mucosa. Antacids ,Antispasmodic agent were not so effective, while antiallergic and glucocorticoid resulted significant effect in treatment.Conclusion The abdominal type of this syndrome in adults is not so common. It is a disorder that caused by cutaneous and systemic small vessel vasculitis of unknown etiology in GI. The diagnosis is based on characteristic of clinical signs and symptoms mostly, because there are no specific laboratory tests ,Platelet counts normal and Many scattered spots , ulcers found on the gastrointestinal mucosa are the most important findings in this disease. The important characteristic feature is that patients'clinical manifestations are severe abdominin pain and mild abdominal objective signs .with prednisone, most patients can be clinically normal.
