Objectives: The objectives of this research was to approach how organism reacted to orthodontic force and appliance to produce epidermal growth factor(EGF) in order to promote periodontal tissue rebuilding .Methods: We selected 12 patients throughout the year as objects. Someone had maxillary prognathism, the others'front teeth had deep overject. They all need to pull out the first premolar in upper mandible. We fixed a fragment of archwire between canines and the first molar in upper jaw. The distal forces of 250g were exerted to the canines on the two sides.The saliva,blood and GCF were collected in 0d,3d,7d and 30d after the orthodontic forces were exerted.The fluence of saliva and GCF were detected . The contents of EGF were analyzed using ELISA method. All the data were statistical analyzed using SPSS 16.0.Results:1. The density of EGF in saliva and blood didn't have significant difference among diferent time.Salivary flow detected in 3d,7d and 30d had significant difference compared to salivary flow detected in 0d..2. The density of EGF in GCF have statistical significant difference among diferent time. GCF flow detected in3d,7d and 30d had significant difference compared to GCF flow detected in 0d.3. The density of EGF in GCF have significant difference compared to the density of EGF in saliva and blood at the same time.Conclusion: 1. Mechanical stimulation of appliances caused the regulation of nervous reflex to increase saliva flow rate,but fixed appliances and orthodontic force couldn't cause organism regulation to make salivary gland secrete more EGF , so the density of EGF in saliva didn't have significant difference.2. Fixed appliances and orthodontic force couldn't cause organism regulation to make other histiocyte secrete more EGF, so the density of EGF in blood didn't have significant difference.3. The density of EGF increased obviously after the orthodontic force were exerted to canines, it indicated EGF correlated with periodontium rebuilding intimatly.4. No matter orthodontic force were exerted, The density of EGF in GCF were higher than EGF in saliva and blood, it indicated a part of EGF in GCF came from blood, others came from periodontium.5. The density of EGF in saliva and blood didn't have significant difference in 3d and 7d, but it increased significantly in GCF, it indicated the augmented EGF came from periodontium .The periodontium cells could promote personal rebuilding through autogenous regulation and partly humoral regulation.
