With morbidity rate of diabetes raising year by year, diabetes have been the one of main disease that threaten human healthy. The new epidemiologic survey of diabetes find that diabetes morbidity rate of twenty years old human have to be eleven point six percent in city or town of china. It is so shocked to everyone.Body is a homeostasis environment that is regulated by cytokines and hormones. Diabetic morbidity is relationship to not only abnormality of gene, but also disbalance of homeostasis environment. So now finding the correlation of diabetes and cytolines is a hot spot of studying diabetic pathogenesy.With the deeply searching, adipose tissue is not only looked to be a organ of storing adipose, but also a organ of endocrine that play a critical role in the metabolic regulation.It can secrete a great quantity of adipocytoline, such as adiponectine, leptin, resistin and so on. Visfatin is a novel adipocytokine produced and specific hyper-expressed in visceral fat.Visfatin is a protein which have four hundrend and seventy three acids on gene coding and relative molecular weight is fifty two thousand. Its expressing is regulated by many kinds of hormone, toxin and medicamentous. It can decrease blood glucose because of its insulin-like effect and participates in the signal transduction of insulin through combining and activating insulin receptor, and participate in regulating metabolism of lipid, inflammatory reaction, and immunoloregulation. Visfatin have a lot of physiological functions, so reserchers start to deeply investigate the relationshaip of visfatin and obesity, insulin resistance and diabetes mellitus.It is confirmed by a lot of clinical trial that The Visfatin levels is significant positive correlation with obesity, especially in coeliotype obesity and the quantity of visceral fat; However, it can not be given the final conclusion of relation between visfatin levels and insulin resistance through animal experiments or clinical researches; Compared with control group, visfatin is elevated in diabetes group; but it is not correlation of visfatin and chronicial blood vessel complications of diabetes. Discovery of visfatin provides a new way to investigate the pathogenesy and therapy of insulin resistance and diabetes mellitus.
