Expression And Their Significance Of VEGF And MMP-9 In Giant Cell Tumor Of Bone

Objective To observe the expression of vascular endothelium growth factor(VEGF) and MMP-9 in giant cell tumor of bone(GCT),and to investigate their clinical significance. Metheds The expression of VEGF and MMP-9 in 30 cases specimens of GCT and 20 cases specimens of fibrous dysplasia of bone were examined by immunohistochemistry SP technique.30 cases specimens of GCT were grouped according to the pathological gradation of GCT and clinical staging system and prognosis , and were conducted statistical analysis using clinical data.Results (1) The expression of VEGF in the specimens: in 30 cases of GCT,VEGF were expressed in 21 cases,the positive rate of expression was 70%(21/30),the positive rate of VEGF expression in 20 cases of fibrous dysplasia of bone was 15%(3/20),the difference was significant(P<0.05).The expression in 3 groups of GCT:the difference of positive rate in group of pathological gradation was not significant(P>0.05);The positive rate was significantly higher in giant cell tumor of bone with cortical breakthrough than that in giant cell tumor of bone without cortical breakthrough. (P<0.05);The difference of positive rate in group of prognosis was significant(P<0.05).(2) The expression of MMP-9 in the specimens: in 30 cases of GCT,MMP-9 were expressed in 19 cases,the positive rate of expression was 63.3%(19/30),the positive rate of MMP-9 expression in 20 cases of fibrous dysplasia of bone was 25%(5/20), the difference was significant(P<0.05).The expression in 3 groups of GCT:the difference of positive rate in group of pathological gradation was not significant(P>0.05);The positive rate was significantly higher in giant cell tumor of bone with cortical breakthrough than that in giant cell tumor of bone without cortical breakthrough. (P<0.05);The difference of positive rate in group of prognosis was significant(P<0.05).(3) The relativity of expression of VEGF and MMP-9 in GCT:the expression of VEGF and MMP-9 were positive relativity in giant cell tumor of bone(P<0.05).Conclusions Overexpression of VEGF and MMP-9 in patients with GCT can enhance the possibility of recurrence and metastasis.they may serve a effective index to indicate biologic behavior and prognosis in giant cell tumor of bone and provide the possibility of new therapy in giant cell tumor of bone.
