Objective:To assess the combined application of staged enteral and parenteral nutrition support in patients with acute pancreatitis. Methods:Sixty patients with acute pancreatitis who underwent conservative treatment were divided into total parenteral nutrition(TPN) group(n=30) and staged parenteral and enteral nutrition(PN+EN) group(n=30).The changes of clinical indicators and clinical outcome were recorded.Results:1.All of the 30 cases in the PN+EN group tolerated the enteral nutrition.2.One weeks after nutrition support from parenteral nutrition to enteral nutrition, total protein, serum albumin and blood calcium significantly increased(p<0.01);ALT and AST significantly decreased(p<0.01).3.The blood glucose was significantly decreased(p<0.05).4.The average hospital stay was shorter in the PN+EN group than in the TPN group(p<0.05), and the average charge and total charge was also cheaper in the PN+EN group than in the TPN group.Conclusion.It was safe, efficient and feasible of the early enteral nutrition in acute pancreatitis through naso-jejunal tube.Enteral nutrition could improve the nutrition and prognosis of the patients.
