Objective:To explore risk factors for asthma in children including genetic factors(include family history and atopy),acute respiratory infections, passive smoking, psychology, diet etal, and to provide evidence for preventing children's asthma,so as to shed light on the clinic practice. Methods:A questionnaire survey was conducted on the children who enter in the children hospital,The matched case-control study was performed in 100 children with asthma and 100 cases of the matchedcontrols,9 months to 13 years of age.The diagnostic of asthma was made through Chinese Journal Of Pediatrics(2004),Asthma was designed based upon case history, family history, atopy, the factors of parents, environmental factor, psychological factor,et al.To access the relationship of factors to asthma,we used univariate and multivariate logistic regression model which was employed to evaluate the risk factors for asthma. The dependent variable was presence and absence of asthma.Statistical testing was done at the two-tailed alpha level of 0.05,odd ratios(OR) and 95%CI was calculated.Data were analyzed using the SPSS 11.5 software. Results:The result of univariate analyses indicate the statistically difference in asthma that:family history of asthma, family history of atopy, atopy(inclding rhinitis or/and eczema or/and urticaria),acute respiratory infections, breast milk, sleeping difficulty, maternal passive smoking during pregnancy, children's passive smoking, mother's culture, income of family, difference view of teaching between parents, protect children more carefully, toy and foam goods, kitchen smoke, paint odo, moisture of house, often depressed, bellowing, uncomfortable with no reason, choosing food, like to eat sweet food and salt food had statistic influence on childhood asthma. The tendency still existed after excluding all the possible confounding factors in the multivariate logistic regression model,in addition,Family history of asthma, atopy, acute respiratory infections, like to eat sweet food, foam goods,no reason unbearable had significant variables on childhood asthma. Conclusion:Family history of asthma, atopy, acute respiratory infections, like to eat sweet food, foam goods,no reason unbearable increased the risk of childhood asthma. Improvement and avoidance these risk factors, control these risk factors is very important to the prevention of occurrence and serve degree of asthma in children.
