objective:To investigate the etiology,predisposition,treatments and effect of erythroderma.Methods:Clinical data of 108 patients with erythroderma were analyzed retrospectively.Results- there were 108 patients with erythroderma,which was accounted for 1.75%of total hospitalization in department of dermatology.The mean age of onset was 51.76±21.73 years old,and the male-female ratio was is 3.5:1.The most frequent etiology of erythroderma was the exacerbation of the previous skin diseases(68.5%),among them patients with psoriasis accounted for 39.8%;followed by unknown-origin 16.7%,drug reactions (12.0%) and malignant turnour 2.8%respectively,among them patients with psoriasis accounted for 39.8%;followed by unknown-origin 16.7%,drug reactions(12.0%) and malignant tumour 2.8%respectively.The inappropriate treatments were the major factors that induced and aggravated erythroderma.There was no significant difference in the incidence of fever between patients with infection and those who have not.Skin biopsies were performed in 47 of the 108 patients with Erythroderma,among them 26 patients showed the non-specific changes,21 patients showed specific changes.Coulusion:The old patients are identified as the the majority of the patients with Erythroderma.Erythroderma is mostly caused by the exacerbation of the previous skin diseases,among them patients with psoriasis is the major one.Infrequent cause of erythroderma should not be neglected.Inappropriate treatment with glucocorticoid is the major predisposition,systemic contact dermatitis can also develop into erythroderma.The infection of patients has no necessary relations with the fever.The original histopathologic features could still be found in some patients who developed to erythroderma from previous skin diseases.
