BACKGROUND:Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of mortality for women in China. However there is no large-scale clinical study about clinical factors and angiographic characterization of women in China. In this study,we investigated hospitalized female patients with chest pain in order to find the relationship between risk factors and angiographic characters.OBJECTIVE:The aim of our study was to evaluate the risk factors and angiographic characters of coronary heart disease in women.METHODS and RESULTS:433 women(average age:66.5±9.2) with chest pain were hospitalized in Zhongshan Hospital during January to July of 2008.The risk factors such as age, hypertension, diabetes, smoking were recorded.Blood sugar, total cholesterol,triglyceride,HDL-ch,LDL-ch,Lp(a) were tested. All patients were performed angiography successfully. The results of angiography were positive in 361 patients(83.4%),negative in 72 patients(16.6%).Single factor analysis showed that old age, hypertension, diabetes, low HDL-ch level, high Lp(a) level, high glycosylated hemoglobin level, abnormal ECG ST-T segment were significantly different between positive angiography group and negative angiography group (P<0.05).And multivariate logistic analysis showed that coronary heart disease in women was independently associated with old age, hypertension, low HDL-ch level and high Lp(a) level(P<0.05).The number of the risk factors of each patient was calculted,Mann-Whitney U analysis showed that the more risk factors one had,the worse one's angiographic characters were(P<0.001).CONCLUSIONS:The cardiovascular risk factors such as age, hypertension, diabetes, low HDL-ch level, high Lp(a) level, high glycosylated hemoglobin level, abnormal ECG ST-T segment were significantly different between positive angiography group and negative angiography group.Coronary heart disease in women was independently associated with old age, hypertension, low HDL-ch level and high Lp(a) level. The more risk factors one had,the worse one's angiographic characters were.
