Long-term hypertension is the main inducement of LVH. LVH manifested as myocardial cell hypertrophy, myocardial interstitial fibrogenic cytokines, myocardial ischemia, arrhythmia and congestive heart failure. As the most important enzyme system of degrading the extracellular matrix, MMP is the primary driving force of myocardial interstitial remodelingm. Furthermore, the origin and the development of Hypertensive LVH are the results of the higher expression of MMP in myocardium.Objective: Based on the prophase research, we observed the effects and related expression of Yixingshu on LVH remodeling, intending to further study the mechanisms of Yixingshu on LVH remodeling.Methods: The renovascular hypertension model was induced in ras by two-kidney one clip method. Immunohistochemistry, light microscope and electron microscope observation were applied to detect blood pressure, left ventricular mass index, the parameter of heart muscle cells, and protein expression of MMP-1 before and after treated by Yixinshu.Results: Yixinshu has significant effect on anti-hypertension. It could lower left ventricular mass index, decrease heart muscle cell volume, protect heart ultrastructure and strengthen the effects of MMP-1 expression in myocardium.Conclusion: Yixinshu is an effective drug of treating hypertensive LVH. By decreasing blood pressure, reducing myocardial cell hypertrophy and collagen proliferation and affecting the activity of matrix metalloproteinase, Yixingshu reversed the hypertensive LVH.
