Based on "Wan Bing Hui Chun","Shou Shi Bao Yuan" and so on written by Gong Ting-xian,who was the famous TCM physician in Ming dynasty,this thesis focuses on the research of the foundation and the origin of his academic thoughts,and strengthen the understanding of his clinical characteristics of syndrome differentiation, therapeutic methods and prescriptions.Gong Ting-xian styled Zicai and alias of Yunlin,born in a family of doctors for generations in Jinxi,Jiangxi Province.His farther,Gong Xin once worked in the imperial hospital.He started to learn Confucianism when he was young and because his desire to be a good minister failed to come true,he turned to learn medicine by following his farther,which could also make him help people.In addition to learning medicine in his family,he also focused his energies on ancient TCM literature such as Huang Di Nei Jing,literature of Zhang Zhong-jing.In addition he studied and discussed medicine with well-known physicians and finally became a famous physician called "Foremost person in the medicine field".The theory of Qi and Blood,the Spleen and Stomach,the Senility embodies his academic thoughts.His theory of prevention of disease also has high academic value.The theory of Qi and Blood elaborates in detail the physiology,pathology, relationship and treatment of qi and blood The obstruction of qi and blood flow could lead many diseases.And because qi controls blood and propels blood circulation,so qi should be regulated first and the qi of stomach should be protected.The perspective is that qi pertains to yang and blood pertains to yin,so the right body and morning pertains to qi,and the left body and evening pertains to blood.This has much significance for syndrome differentiation.The theory of the Spleen and Stomach believes that the spleen and stomach are the source of qi and blood and foundation of the human body.Sufficiency of them ensures that the five zang-viscera are full of vigar,while their deficiency may lead to weakness.The internal impairment of the spleen and stomach may lead to many kinds of diseases.He attached great importance to the regulating of the food and drink, since food and drink are digested and absorbed by the spleen and stomach,improper food and drink could impair the spleen and stomach.Over-intake of food and drink can impair the spleen and stomach.The theory of the Senility holds that the deficiency of the kidney-yin and kidney-yang is the reason of senility.The kidney is considered to be "the congenital foundation".When people are in old age or have irregular daily life and improper diet, the kidney-essence and kidney-qi decline,so the body degenerates.This manifests in grey hair,looseness of teeth,humpback,hearing impairment,pale complexion,and difficulty walking.But the use of herbs of anti-aging only is not enough.There are many respects for us to keep the kidney essence sufficient,such as the food and drink, work and rest,psychology and so on.Health preservation is also an important part of his thoughts.It contains the principle of treating pre-disease,which means that many preventive measures are taken to avoid disease before it occurs.The comprehensive medical books written by Gong Ting-xian have a great impact on later generations.The editions of the books are numerous and spread very widely.His books and medical skill were spread to Japan and had a great influence on Japan's future generations of medical.
