Objective To investigate the epidemiologic features of Kawasaki disease in The Children's hospital Zhejiang University School of Medicine.Methods Retrospective reviews of medical records from the Children's Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine were done to identify inpatients with Kawasaki disease in 2008.Basic demographic and clinical data were gathered and reviewed.Data analysis was performed using SPSS for Windows.The diagnostic criteria of Kawasaki disease was according to the Seventh International Kawasaki Disease Symposium(Japan Hakone,2002).Results There were 239 inpatients diagnosed as Kawasaki disease in the Children's Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine in 2008,229 inpatients accorded with diagnostic criteria of Kawasaki disease suggested by the Seventh International Kawasaki Disease Symposium.There were 158 complete Kawasaki disease cases (69.0%).The ratio of male to female was 1.54:1.The onset age was 3 month to 14 years old,the peak age was 1-2 years old.Kawasaki disease could be found through the whole year,but more often from the spring to summer.The most common clinical manifestation was continuous fever;followed by erythematous,fissured lips and strawberry tongue;bilateral,non-exudative conjunctival injection;enlargement of cervical lymph nodes;polymorphous rash;desquamation of fingers,toes,crissum in convalescent phase;Erythema of palm of hand and soles,swelling of dorsa of hand and feet.The incidence of cardiovascular damage was 5.7%,the most common damage was coronary artery dilation.Approximately 6.1%patients had nonresponse to immunoglobulin.There was no died case during hospitalization.Recurrence rate was 3.1%.Conclusions The distribution of gender and cardiovascular damage in patients with Kawasaki disease in our hospital are similar with other reports.The seasonal distribution is similar with domestic reports,but different with Japan and other places. Recurrence rate is similar with those reported by Japan.The incidence of coronary artery lesions is lower than those reported by home and abroad,and the rate of utilization of IVIG is higher.
