Objective:To investigate the curative effect and prognosis of different proximal humeral osteosarcoma operations. Methods:A serial of consecutive 13 cases of proximal humerus osteosarcoma were collected from 2004 to 2007.The patients were divided into amputation group and limb salvage group randomly, according to clinical presentation, radio logical features and patients demanding, that included amputation group and limb salvage group. The operation efficiency was evaluated with those index that contained local recurrence, pulmonary metastases and two-year and three-year survival. The following up average last 29.85 months(16-36 months ).Results:Two group s clinical effect were appraised through recurrence,two-year survival and three-year survival which was 20%,75%,50%in amputation group respectively and 45%,78%,55%in limb salvage group respectively, thus the amputation group should be thought as well as the limb salvage. Conclusion:The effects of the operations is still not confirmed. In order to confirmed it,we should increase the numbers of samples and prolong the follow up.It is necessary that the limb savage procedures of proximal humerus osteosarcoma should be improved by enhauncing comprehensive treatment and reforming operation technique, tumor lesion resected thoroughly or not,re-implanted tumor bone devitalized or not are both of importance to the effect of the operation.
