Clinical Characteristics And Therapeutic Effect Of Long-standing Retinal Detachment

Objective:To observe the clinical characteristics and therapeutic effect of long-standing retinal detachment.Methods:Retrospective analysis of 7 cases(8 eyes)with long-standing retinal detachment from September,2008 toMarch,2009 in Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital affiliated with School of Medicine,Zhejiang university.Analysis of age,occupation,medical history,diopter,eye examination,surgery mode,retinal reattachment,complication of all patients,posteroperative follow-up mean 1 month.Results:Mean age is 22.5 years old,symptom history 12.9 months;head injury 2 eyes,mean diopter is-4.17DS,myopia 6 eyes,preoperative visual acuity:FC～0.2 6 eyes,eye examination shows:the detached retina is smooth and flat,mostly inferior part, with diffuse degeration and atrophy.Subretinal proliferationxloth line 7 eyes,both with cloth line and Napkin Ring 1 eye.Retinal detachment area:＜2 quadrants 3 eyes;2~＜3 quadrants 2 eyes;3～4 quadrants 3 eyes.Retina holes located at peripheral and degenerative reina,inferior 7 eyes,both with superior and inferior 1 eye,round hole 6 eyes,horseshoe hole 2 eyes;size between 1/3~1DD.6 eyes treated by scleral encircling and bulking procedure,5 eyes reattached.,1 eye retreated by vetrectomy and reattached.2 eyes treated by vetrectomy and reattched.Afteroperative visual acuity:2 eyes improved,2 eyes didn't change,4 eyes declined,Afteroperative visual acuity:FC～0.2 5 eyes.Conclusion:The clinical character is not typical in the early phase of long-standing retinal detachment.Patients visit hospital when it's late.Diagnosis is by retina examination.The effective surgery is needed,scleral encircling and bulking procedure can be used in most patients.
