| Objective In the past several decades, cataract surgery has achieved rapid development in its technique and has been widely performed throughout the world. Pseudophakic retinal detachment is the most serious complication of cataract surgery. It is a devastating ocular condition that often leaves a patient with limited vision, which has gradually gained ophthalmologists' attention In this paper, it discusses the clinical characteristics ,all kinds of risk factors and surgical results of pseudophakic retinal detachment, for the purpose of providing guideline for clinical treatment. Methods Data of 35 patients (36 eyes) with pseudophakic retinal detachment performed with conventional retinal detachment surgery or combined with vitreo-retinal surgery from 2004.2 to 2006.2 were reviewed retrospectively. Results Of the 35 patients (36 eyes), 2 patients were treated with conventional retinal detachment surgery, 33 patients with micro vitreo-retinal surgery. The rate of retina reattachment was 100% in total, and was 91.66% (33 eyes) after once operation and the visual acuity was increased in 31 eyes (86.11%). The best visual acuitywas 0.6, and 25 eyes' visual acuity was better than 0.1. All the IOL in 36 eyes were not removed in the operation. Conclusion Pseudophakic retinal detachment often spread promptly. It is usually with the presence of small pupil, anterior and posterior capsule fibrosis, optical aberrations related to the IOL ,and hard to find holes. It also has the characteristic of complicated with severe proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PRV) . If diagnosed early and treated early with proper surgery, better result can be obtained. |
