Objective: To study the expression of P53,P-gp and GST-Ï€in tumor tissues and to investigate their value in prognosis of colon cancer.Methods:1. Data collection Collected 179 cases of patients with colon cancer resected in our hospital from January 2000 to December 2003. The expression of p53, P-gp and GST-Ï€in all of the colon tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry technique after operation.142 cases of patients were followed-up by telephones, correspondence and outpatient following-up visits .The result of the 142 tissues of colon carcinma were studied.2. Ststistics methods All data were analyzed by SPSS13.0. The statistics methods used include Chi-square test.Results:1. The positive rate of P53 , P-gp and GST-Ï€were 58.10%(104),53.07%(95),65.36(117) respectively;2. The expression of P53 was significantly correlated with differentiation grade, depth of invasion, lymphnode metastasis and Dukes staging , but not related to age and sex .The expression of P-gp and GST-Ï€has relationship to the differentiation grade, but not associated with age , sex , depth of invasion, lymphnode metastasis and Dukes staging .3. The expression of P53 was significantly correlated with the 5-year survival rate in colon carcinomo after radical mastectomy. The expression of P-gp and GST-Ï€has not relationship to the 5-year survival rate in colon carcinomo after radical mastectomy. Conclusions: P53 plays an important role in the development of colon carcinoma. Detection of the expression of p53 in biopsied tissues of colon cancer before operation is useful to guide the decision of operation and appraisal of its prognosis.P-gp and GST-Ï€could not be used as indexes to evaluate the malignant degree of tumor and Prognosis.
