Objective:To investigate influencing factors of the number of lymph nodes(LNs)retrieved after radical surgery for colon cancer and its prognostic value in stage?colon cancer. Methods: The clinicopathological data of 314 patients with colon cancer who underwent radical resection in the gastrointestinal surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of FuJian Medical University from January 2012 to December 2014 were collected, the data include gender?age?BMI?type of surgery?tumor site?tumor size?gross type?pathology?differentiation and T stage. The Univariate analysis and Logistic multivariate analysis were used to analyze the relationship between the number of LNs retrieved after radical surgery for colon cancer and clinicopathological factors. And the data of 93 patients with stage?colon cancer treated without adjuvant therapy were collected. The Univariate analysis?multivariate Cox proportional hazard model and Kalan-Meier method were used to analyze the prognosis and influencing factors. Results: Univariate analysis showed that: the number of LNs retrieved had a significant correlation with age?type of surgery?tumor size?tumor site and T stage(P<0.05),but no significant correlation with gender?BMI?gross type?pathology and differentiation(P>0.05).Multivariate analysis showed tumor site(P=0.041)?age(P=0.022)and T stage(P=0.047)were independent factors affecting the number of LNs retrieved. That is right side colon cancer?age<65 years and higher T stage were significant correlation with the LNs?12.And 93 patients with stage?colon cancer treated without adjuvant therapy Were followed up,the follow-up rate is 91.4%,and the the mean time of follow-up is 45 months. With regard to the prognostic analysis of patients with stage?colon cancer, univariate prognostic analysis showed that T stage?the number of LNs retrieved?tumor size and type of surgery were prognostic factors in stage?colon cancer(P<0.05),however,gender?age?BMI?tumor site?gross type?pathology and differentiation were not the prognostic factors in stage?colon cancer(P>0.05).Multivariable Cox proportional hazard model analysis showed that T stage(P=0.018)and the number of LNs retrieved(P=0.002)were independent prognostic factors in stage?colon cancer.Survival time of T3 stage higher than that of T4 stage, survival time of having ?12 LNs retrieved was higher than that of having<12 LNs retrieved,The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion: Tumor site?age and T stage were independent factors affecting the number of LNs retrieved after radical surgery for colon cancer.T stage and the number of LNs retrieved are the independent prognostic factors in stage?colon cancer, and LNs can serve as a mark for evaluating prognosis in stage?colon cancer.LNs?12 in radical surgery is benificial for staging and adjuvant therapy decision making for stage?colon cancer, and finaly bring benefit to the prognosis.
